| Molds play an
important part outdoors in the breakdown of organic matter
and some level of these molds that are found outside near
our home will always be found inside and are generally not a
concern. The potential for adverse health effects occurs
when mold spores land on a source of moisture and begin
reproducing which can occur in as little as 24-48 hours.
Depending on the mold type it has the potential of being
anything from no concern to an allergen, pathogen, or toxin
producer. No specific guidelines exist today that allow us
to determine exactly what level is considered unsafe.
Therefore the accepted measure of a healthy indoor
environment is one where the levels indoor are less than
those found outdoors and no visible mold growth is present.
But, what if you suspect mold (a
musty odor, health effects that lessen when away or another
reason) without visible signs? In this case inspection and
testing by those trained and certified is recommended.
EnviroSpect certified inspectors will perform a whole house
assessment -- following established protocols -- that
includes thorough visual inspection employing infrared
thermal imaging and borescopes if necessary to identify “red
flag areas”.
Once identified, analytical sampling can assist in
determining if mold is present, and if it is, the level and
the known health risk of the particular type(s) found.
This detailed information is then provided to you allowing
for an informed decision based on facts and the appropriate
action. We do not have any affiliations with contractors or
mold remediation company allowing us to advise you without
conflict of interest. You can rest easy knowing that your
interests are our only focus and concern. |
